What's your opinion on Jim & HiFi being so hype about hosting one of the world's foremost openly pro-pedophilia activists? Y'know, Pete Thatchett, the guy Amos Yee modeled himself after.
That's to say nothing of HiFi trying to launder him as a "gay icon." Thoughts?
To be honest, I didn't know who Pete Thatchell is until 25 minutes ago (name spelling in your post threw me off looking him up too unless I have the wrong person). If I've found the right person I have a few thoughts on them
First, Ouro, because of the static between us you know it comes across that what you're fishing for is a "gotcha"... We both understand your angle of attack toward Radpod and its hosts. The Amos Yee part is totally unrelated to this dude, who is not a convicted predator like Yee (but I would add the same if asking you a question like this so fair enough, I guess).
This person does NOT seem to be known as a "pro pedo activist" from the page I found, so there wouldn't be "laundry" of reputation necessary. Also, if they were an "activist" for such a thing why would they want someone to say they werent an activist for it? (Feel free to add sources or info as all this is like half an hour old to me and I'm going by Google and wiki) I also don't believe that gay people are more prone to predatory behavior, but I don't think you meant this as a trope.
1. I disagree with what *I just read* of his prior stance to lower age of consent as much as when Cernovich and Dershowitz argued the same crap, I have dragged Bernie Sanders during the primaries for writing the exact same idea and worse in his old "free love for kids" and "rape fantasy" essays.
2. Thatchell appears to have done a LOT of pro LBGTQ activism, I don't know many activists well enough to ask but it seems he is known specifically for that, I don't have anyone to compare, I am not an activist but this person has stood in hostile countries where people were being murdered for their sexual orientation and demonstrated openly and also seems famous for it among the gay community itself.
3. I, personally, can't stand the Green Party and equate them with the same type of shortsighted and ignorantly selfish populism as the far right displays. everyone knows that I feel that way, I think by now.
That being said plenty of people I respect and even consider friends have interviewed people I disagree with or even dislike (I hate nobody, it rots you from the inside), Also I've been interviewed by people I find abhorrent
Yes, they should interview this person if they want, imo, put yourself in the position where you are building a content library of interviews.
Appreciate the cordial reply, considering what you so eloquently termed "the static" between us - but in truth, Ted, you're the closest thing to respectable I believe finds comradery amongst the Stewanon fandom. If anyone in that group is going to do their own thinking, rather than just applaud for Jim's nonsense, I'm confident it'd be you (despite how readily you seem to buy into Jarvis' inane BS).
I'm having a rough day medically & don't have the clarity of mind I'd like here - forgot to bookmark the articles I was reading. I'll have to get back to you w some resources to his seedier affairs, cuz you def closed in on some of it, but yo it gets pretty gross. I of course don't expect you to take my word for it here, but speaking positively of sexual relationships between adults and kids aged 9-13 throws any good he may hope to put forth into an extremely nasty light, IMO.
Sorry for misspelling the name, that was a total brainfart on my part. But, ye, very much a Dersh type. I actually didn't know that about Bernie, but I did get sort of a creep vibe from him. I'm sure I'll be able to find it, but if ya feel like dropping links to Bernie being a creep, I'd gladly read them. You're under no request or obligation to do my homework for me, of course.
Thatchell has surely done some good work for LGBTQ rights, and in dangerous places too. I just... Man, that pedo shit really does overshadow whatever else, IMO. Not to sound all "save the kids" but harming kids, or advocating for their harm as somehow virtuous, is the epitome of evil in my book. Bin Laden did a lot of great work in the 80s too, dig?
Maaaang, I tell ya what, I do actually agree w your assessment of the Green Party these days. I don't know if they were always like that & I was just too naive to see it, or if it really did swerve off post-16. I was an idealistic Green voter most of my adult life (I'm not that old, though). I wish I could trust most Dems. Voting for them feels like coercion, but... Fucks the alternative, right?
What I think is gross about RadPod interviewing him isn't the act of interviewing (you do bring up a fair, if datedly both-sidesy, point on that front), but the insane decision to promote him in such glowing terms. "Legendary gay icon," just sits hella wrong w me given the context of the currently RAGING "groomer" panic. For a group so obsessed w psyops, this seems damn near dangerous (if they had any actual reach, anyway).
Thanks for the cordial reply. I'll pop back w some links either later or in the morning for ya. Be well.
I appreciate that you took the time to reply also, I don't know who Tim is but I'm too tired to also be cordial to "tim"'s reply. I'm always willing to look at context, right now I need to space out for a few minutes.
I was also susceptible to the proactive and aggressive appearance of the green party when I was younger and I think that's how I became resentful eventually. I also liked Bern at primary 2016 (I voted for Obama twice for Healthcare and jobs, which is what Bernie flyer said) until I found out most of what they told us that I had repeated to others was false. I wanted to believe it so it was easy, I didn't think so many people would be assuring me of things that none of them confirmed. I just want the most good for the most people and not to have to live in a constant state of emergency and with 330 million people here it is like herding cats. No group is a monolith either but I honestly believe the entire right is capable of destroying us all with their rhetorical whims and rotten policy... see: sheep drench
I'll find the Bernie essays if I can over the next day or so, haven't looked for them since probably early 2020. the one where he describes his* idea that all men fantasize about being empowered and women generally fantasize about being brutalized was called "man and woman" I think, and the other one i don't remember the title offhand but I have it here somewhere. If not in my clips or screenshots then it's in my archive, also there is a crazy series he wrote where all kinds of claims are made like orgasms cure cancer. The one about kids, Bernie believed that if we let kids play nude in public there wouldn't be a line of adults waiting to see films like "behind the green door". He was going to take down "big porn" but encourages letting children explore each other's genitals and reasons this would remove the curiosity that causes people to go see the sexploitation features and full length schlok of the time.
I was trying to submit his essays to his SOTU Vermont essay contest at one point, but it has to be a Vermont student submitting it lol
It would be disingenuous of me to say Tatchell has been *explicitly* pro-pedo, but I think the problem w that is best outlined in the Paedophile Information Exchange subsection of his wiki page. He's most well known for his campaigns to reduce age of consent to 14, and has defended it a whole lotta times over the years. We run into problems w his endorsement of literal pedophiles & pro-pedophilia activists/ism, most notably the obituary for the founder of PIE, as well as an essay for a PIE members book. When questioned, in both instances, he was insistent that he just didn't know that's what the dudes were about. I'm not inclined to believe him.
There's a lot of material out there of columnists ripping him up & just as often his own defense would make the papers, but wiki covers it pretty well in a catchall, I think.
I gotta know, Ted.

Can't blame ya there. You have a good night.
FWIW, I know y'all ain't inclined to believe anything out of "the Ops" but I have only, and will only, ever reply to any of y'all w my own handle.

Sorry for the late reply, life's been stupid.
