We are all susceptible. It’s a feature of being human that confidence tricksters will exploit as will other baddies… but also is not limited to solely malignant purposes. Advertisers and entertainers and artists also use this susceptibility

There are a variety of tools online that can help you cite sources and find out if something is really happening or not. We will all get things wrong time to time, hear things from people we trust that may not be accurate, maybe they believed it, it’s not automatically evil that that someone is misinformed but it’s dangerously ignorant to stay that way on purpose. If something excites or upsets you, make sure to look it up.
